IRS Launches Directory of Tax Return Preparers

The Internal Revenue Service has announced the launch of a new, online public directory of tax return preparers.

Tax HelpThis searchable directory on will help taxpayers find a tax professional with credentials and select qualifications to help them prepare their tax returns.

“This new directory will be a practical tool for the millions of Americans who rely on the services of a paid return preparer,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “Taxpayers can also look to these tax professionals for help if they have questions about the new health care provisions on this year’s tax forms.”

The directory is a searchable, sortable listing featuring:  the name, city, state and zip code of attorneys, CPAs, enrolled agents and those who have completed the requirements for the voluntary IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP). All preparers listed also have valid 2015 Preparer Tax Identification Numbers (PTIN).

H.E. Ambassador Girma Birru of Ethiopia discussed the bilateral benefits of U.S.-Africa trade at a networking event with business leaders at the Embassy of Ethiopia.It was our honor for the International Trade Administration to join the Virginia-Washington D.C. District Export Council and Ambassadors from three of Africa’s fastest-growing economies at a recent networking event focused on U.S. companies doing business in Africa.

The message from the Ambassadors from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania was loud and clear: “We are ready for your business to come to Africa.”

It’s not just these Ambassadors who think your business should be looking at Africa. The facts support them:

  • Seven of the 10 fastest-growing economies in the world are in Africa.

  • Consumer spending is expected to reach $1.4 trillion by 2020, up from $860 billion in 2008.

American Supplier Initiative with matchmaking eventsThe U.S. Small Business Administration will expand the American Supplier Initiative with matchmaking events that will be held throughout 2015.  The matchmaking events will help provide small businesses with the tools and resources needed to become effective suppliers and connect with federal and commercial supply chain opportunities.

“The American Supplier Initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to create jobs through growing small businesses while also ensuring that America has a strong, deep and diverse supply chain,” said SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet.  “Becoming a corporate supplier can be a true catalyst for business growth, but accessing those supply chains can be challenging for small businesses.  The American Supplier Initiative exists to help our nation’s small businesses find their footing in these supply chains.”

African Diaspora Marketplace III Business Plan Competition Application Is Now Extended to March 7, 2015!

African Diaspora Marketplace III Business Plan CompetitionThe United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Western Union  have launched the third round of the African Diaspora Marketplace business plan competition (ADM III). 

Successful ADM III applicants will receive a matching grant of up to $50,000 and will have access to technical assistance and other support services. The ADM III website is now live and entrepreneurs are urged to go online and apply for this grant opportunity. In order to accommodate the anticipated volume of applications, the application deadline for the concept proposals is extended to March 7, 2015.
