About this Center

The Houston MBDA Business Center is operated by Houston Community College. The program is funded, in part, by the U.S. Department of Commerce through the Minority Business Development Agency and has been hosted at Houston Community College since September 2013. MBDA Business Centers are staffed by business specialists who help minority businesses access procurement opportunities, markets and capital.

Our Mission

To foster the growth and global competitiveness of U.S. businesses that are minority-owned by facilitating transactions through referrals; business consulting; contract proposal preparation; loan packaging and matching Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) to contract opportunities and capital sources.

Services include identification of procurement opportunities, solicitation analysis, bid and proposal preparation, negotiation and closing, research contract award histories.

Services include government procurement assistance, private sector contract identification and specialized certification assistance including 8(a), and assistance with market research.

Strategic Business Consulting

Services include sales consulting and forecasting, market feasibility studies, operations management and quality control, bid preparation and bonding (construction), and manufacturing facility leasing.

Staff Information

 

Roger Harris, Program Director, was formerly the External Affairs Manager of the City of Houston’s Office of Business Opportunity. Previously, he was the owner of Beta Financial Resources LLC, and served as a Business Consultant with Houston Business Development, Inc. A native of Massachusetts, he is a graduate of the University of Houston, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.
