Event Registration Status:  No longer accepting registrations via third party (Cutoff on Tuesday July 7, 2009)

Description:

The Summit will be held at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on Monday, July 6th and Tuesday, July7th.  A networking reception will be held Tuesday evening on Capitol Hill to facilitate interaction between the Summit attendees and congressional staff and Members of Congress.

The Summit will focus on four major components of minority business development programs - Building MBE Capacity, Expanding MBE Markets, Increasing Equity & Capital, and Securing Public and Private Sector Contracts.  The Summit will be conducted over 1 1/2 days ending with a networking opportunity to build synergies. 

The first day will be dedicated to an overview and discussion of the political and economic realities of minority business development programs and new approaches to structuring minority business development programs that result in capacity building and access to capital, markets and contracts. The second day will be dedicated to establishing an Action Plan.

Mr. Smith and Mr. Lowry will discuss the 1991 Report from the US Commission on Minority Business Development and developments in the evolution of programs serving minority business enterprises.
