Brief description of call: Morocco continues to develop its infrastructure at a rapid pace, seeking to promote domestic economic growth and to become an export platform for the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. It is building and improving ports, marinas, dams, roads, airports, rail systems (including high-speed rail) and tramways.

In addition, new projects are being developed in mining, schools, waste management, power generation (gas turbine as well wind and solar), resorts, hotels, business centers, and apartment and housing complexes. Ambassador Kaplan will discuss the prospects for expanding U.S. trade and investment in the light of the Free Trade Agreement the U.S. signed with Morocco in 2006, and will respond to questions about doing business in Morocco.
