Topic: Direct Line Nairobi

Host: Ambassador Robert Godec

Date, time, time zone for call: Tuesday, October 22, 2013; 10:00 a.m. EDT (17:00 local)

Deadline for RSVPs: Friday, October 18, 2013

Brief description of call: Ambassador Robert Godec and USAID Director Karen Freeman will participate in this teleconference to talk about doing business in Kenya and about some of the potential opportunities for American firms, particularly in the energy sector. As the largest and one of the most rapidly growing economies in East Africa, Kenya offers many potentially attractive investment opportunities for American firms. The energy sector in particular, with up to 10 billion barrels in potential hydrocarbons reserves waiting to be discovered and developed, and an ambitious government plan to build up 5000 Megawatts of power generation and transmission capacity over the next 40 months could be especially attractive areas for American firms that wish to do more business in Africa.
