Brief description of call: On October 28, the Paraguayan Congress passed a bill to promote Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in public infrastructure. The Government of Paraguay is exploring concessions to improve its infrastructure in several areas, including building and expanding road, rail, waterway, and electricity networks, upgrading international airports, and expanding telecommunications connectivity. Ambassador Thessin will be joined by Minister of Public Works and Communications Ramón Jiménez Gaona, who will play a key role in implementing Paraguay’s large-scale infrastructure and electrical grid modernization initiatives. Members of the Embassy’s economic team will also participate. The event will consist of an introduction to the new PPP law and an overview of infrastructure opportunities, followed by an interactive question and answer session.
