LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS, STRATEGIC ALLIANCES, PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND SPECIAL  PROJECTS

Legislative Affairs

  • Prepare congressional briefing packages for targeted Members of Congress, as assigned

  • Research current legislation impacting small, minority and women-owned business and prepare legislative summaries as appropriate.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of a congressional briefing on MBDA activities and accomplishments.  This will include preparing and/or coordinating leave behind materials/briefing kits and other administrative logistics.

  • Assist in visits to Capital Hill

Strategic Alliances

  • Research and prepare profiles of national and regional minority business associations.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a strategic partner’s focus group meetings/town halls regarding issues of interest to MBEs.  This will include preparing and/or coordinating leave behind materials/briefing kits and other administrative logistics.

  • Assist with information dissemination and management of the Secretary of Commerce Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise.

General Logistics

  • Assist with a variety of administrative aspects of external affairs, including miscellaneous research, faxing, photocopying, writing, etc.

  • Assist in the development and submittal of OMB documentation to change programmatic requirements for National MED Week Awards Program.

  • Update MBDA’s congressional and strategic alliances databases.

SPECIAL PROJECTS PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

Special Projects &  Program Coordination

  • Create and Establish Databases

  • Assist in the Development of Demonstration Projects

  • Assist in the development of Federal Register Notices and related programmatic documents

Conference Promotion

  • Conduct focused outreach to national and regional minority chambers of commerce, business associations and trade organizations encouraging them to promote MED Week with their membership through newsletters, website and other means of communication.

  • Create and establish databases

  • Prepare content for MED Week Program Book

Event Logistics

  • Assist with a variety of administrative aspects of planning for the MED Week conference, including miscellaneous research, faxing, photocopying, writing, etc.

  • Maintain and update contact information on speakers/panelists, Honorary Committees, sponsors and other key databases, as needed.

NOTE:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel proficiency is a must.
  • Ability to multi-task cheerfully and efficiently is also a must
