The MBDA Office of Research and Knowledge Management (ORKM) is responsible for the performance of ongoing research relevant to minority business enterprises and the identification, management, and dissemination of MBDA’s institutional knowledge.

Position: ORKM – Internship

Project: Research and Knowledge Management

Preferred Grade: Student Intern

Leadership: MBDA anticipates successful candidate will participate as a team member and work closely with the National Business and Knowledge Management Coordinator. He/she will have project responsibility duties.

Position Description:

This internship position supports the work of the Office of Research and Knowledge Management.  The successful candidate will support the acquisition of intuitional knowledge through the identification and documentation of processes, procedures and practices with various functions within MBDA.

Support the current effort to modernize the Agency’s records management program. Assess technologies that promote the identification of enterprise level best practices and the management of institution records. As time permits the chosen candidate will assist the Knowledge Management team in the day to day administration of MBDA’s current Knowledge Management Initiatives.

Work Assignments:

  • Support the development of a concept white paper which supports a key area within knowledge management at MBDA. Analysis should focus on how minority business enterprises can leverage social media to increase visibility and market share.

  • Support the promulgation and maintenance of departmental policies, objectives and strategic plans relating to knowledge management and business process reengineering. 

  • Support comprehensive evaluation and migration of MBDA knowledge assets into MBDA’s current knowledgebase.

  • Support the development of business and functional requirements through the facilitation of joint application development sessions, surveys, and focus groups. Information collected will be used in the identification and tailoring of the recommended records management and knowledge management systems, respectively.

  • Respond to telephone requests for information.

Skills Required:

  • Thorough familiarity and ability to use the full range of Microsoft Office products: Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Highly analytical
  • Professional in attire and demeanor
  • College Junior
