MBDA’s newest excitement on Doing Business in Africa is its upcoming representation by our National Director David Hinson at the U.S.-Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (AGOA Forum) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

Under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), the U.S. Government has strategically provided duty-free access to the U.S. market in nearly 40 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Thus, for minority-owned businesses, AGOA means access to potential strategic partnerships with African companies in AGOA eligible countries. Minority-owned businesses can benefit by accessing capital, accessing new contracts, and expanding into new markets.  AGOA means an opportunity to help strengthen the trading relationship between the United States and Africa, while positively impacting both economies.

The theme of this year’s AGOA Forum is “Sustainable Transformation through Trade and Technology.”  The Ministerial-level event will include a high level dialogue on the future of U.S.-Africa trade and economic cooperation.  The Forum will also include various private sector and civil society programs.  The Corporate Council on Africa, of which MBDA is a member, is collaborating with the Ethiopian Chambers of Commerce and Sectoral Associations to organize a U.S. – Sub-Saharan Africa Trade Exhibition to run concurrent with the Forum events.

MBDA’s participation in the Forum is key to its support of the Doing Business in Africa Campaign as we seek to expand trade and investment in the region through the minority business community, and support economic opportunity and prosperity in Sub-Saharan Africa.
