The Center serves minority entrepreneurs who are pursuing growth in size, scale and capacity. The Phoenix MBDA Business Center is locally operated by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The MBDA Business Center, Arizona is focused on securing large public and private contracts and financing transactions, stimulating job creation and retention, and facilitating entry to global markets for eligible minority-owned businesses.
While the Center serves all MBEs, we focus on clients that include eligible MBEs with annual revenues of over $1,000,000 or, participants in a high-growth industry (e.g. green technology, clean energy, health care, infrastructure and broadband technology, among others).

Alika Kumar, has been the Executive Director of the Phoenix MBDA Business Center since 2006, under her leadership, the Center has facilitated over $2.7 billion in procurement and financial transactions; and, helped create and retain over 8300 jobs.
Alika earned a Master of International Management from the Thunderbird Global School of Management, and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University. Her business experience includes consulting for multinational companies conducting research, developing competitive business intelligence; and analysis of market research to develop market entry strategies. Alika’s service experience includes consulting for local and international businesses, teaching business courses, and working for the state and federal governments.
Alika serves on the Board of the Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Executive Committee of the Metro Phoenix Export Alliance. She is also a Sister on the Planet for Oxfam America, an avid philanthropist with a focus on the empowerment of women and children around the world. Alika is an inspired artist, sculptor, but most importantly, the proud mother of three college grads including an Oxonian, a Wild Cat and a Sun Devil, and married to Dennis Isbell who is a happily retired university librarian and avid reader.
