About This Center
The MBDA Business Center located in St. Louis, MO is operated by the Chicago Minority Business Development Council, Incorporated. The center is part of a national network of funded centers located in major cities throughout the United States.
The center works with minority business enterprises to generate increased financing and contract opportunities and to create and retain jobs.
The mission of the center is to strengthen the US economy by helping ethnic minority businesses create or retain jobs, and build economically vibrant socially responsible entrepreneurs, businesses, and communities.
Project Director: Jim Pinkston
Jim Pinkston has more than 30 years of combined experience in Corporate Finance, Financial Services, and Business Management. He has been employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., First Bank of Illinois, Southwestern Bell Corporation, Kiel Center Partners (Arena construction & Operation), Edward Jones Investment Co., TIAA-CREF, and finally his own firm, J Pinkston Financial Advisory Services, LLC. All of these companies have added to his bank of knowledge and experience. In addition, Jim has started several other small businesses including a personal care services company and a real estate management firm.
Jim is a graduate of Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and earned his Masters in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. He has earned additional designations including the investment advisory professional designation of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and holds the series 7 and 63 securities licenses. He also holds a Life & Variable and Property & Casualty insurance licenses in Missouri and Illinois.
Jim joined the St. Louis MBDA Business Center in late 2016 as the Senior Financial Consultant. Jim was recently promoted to Project Director of the Center.

Services include identification of export markets, facilitation of global transactions, international trade missions and market analysis, and overseas market promotion assistance.
Access to Capital
Services include identification of domestic and global financing opportunities, equity financing, brokerage of financial transactions, identification and closure of merger and acquisition transactions.
Access to Contracts
Services include identification of procurement opportunities, solicitation analysis, bid and proposal preparation, negotiation and closing, research contract award histories.
Access to Markets
Services include government procurement assistance, private sector contract identification and specialized certification assistance including 8(a), and assistance with market research.
Strategic Business Consulting
Services include sales consulting and forecasting, market feasibility studies, operations management and quality control, bid preparation and bonding (construction), and manufacturing facility leasing.
