On Jacqueline Woodard, President and CEO of Performance-based Solutions, Inc. (PbSi), joined Alejandra Castillo, National Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), the Honorable William Euille, Mayor of Alexandria, Va., Joanne Benson, Maryland State Senator and many other distinguished guests, to launch the Washington, D.C. Capitol MBDA Business Center, made possible through a three-year, $900,000 grant that was awarded in September 2013.
One of 44 MBDA business centers located throughout the nation and Puerto Rico, the Washington, D.C. Capitol MBDA Business Center will create and retain jobs by providing consulting services and facilitating access to contracts, capital and new international market opportunities to eligible minority and women-owned businesses. The business center is operated by PbSi.
“PbSi is pleased to offer the services of the Washington, D.C. Capitol MBDA Business Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s MBDA, to the National Capital Area business community,” said Woodard. “If your business is in need of assistance from a seasoned team of business professionals experienced in government procurement practices and financial loan packaging, we are here to help you. Your business is our business.”
The Washington, D.C. Capitol MBDA Business Center will provide assistance to all minority business enterprises and specifically targets those with annual revenues of more than $1 million, and/or that participate in a high-growth industry, such as green technology, clean energy, healthcare, infrastructure and broadband technology among others.
“This center will be yet another critical component in strengthening the ecosystem that will ensure the growth of minority businesses in our Nation’s capital,” said Castillo.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s MBDA helps to create and sustain U.S. jobs by promoting the growth and global competitiveness of businesses owned and operated by minority entrepreneurs. It is the only federal agency created specifically to foster the full participation and entrepreneurship of minority business enterprises in the United States.

MBDA Business Centers provide strategic business consulting services to minority-owned firms that will result in the creation and retention of jobs for Americans through business growth. This is accomplished by increasing the domestic and global competitiveness of minority-owned firms in accessing capital, contracts and markets.
