Recently, a client of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Ecotech Global Solutions (Ecotech), made inroads into the growing Chinese market that will also help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

On May 6, 2011, during the U.S.-China Energy Efficiency Forum at Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, Ecotech signed a landmark agreement in the fields of energy efficiency and carbon reduction with China Quality Certification Center (CQC).  This collaboration, and others like it, demonstrates that the path to economic prosperity and the path to environmental sustainability are one and the same.

“Together we will work closely with Chinese industrial companies to reduce specific energy consumption and carbon emission,” said Dr. Paul Hsu, Chairman of Ecotech. “This business relationship will generate green job growth in the U.S. and help improve the business relationship between the two countries.”

Mr. Hsu credits MBDA for offering help and support in forming this strategic partnership. “MBDA was critical in giving me the leadership and motivation required to make this happen,” said Mr. Hsu.

The U.S.-China Energy Efficiency Forum, the second of its kind sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, is an effort to bring together stakeholders from both countries to share best practices and work toward mutual cooperation to increase efficiency and decrease emissions.

Ecotech, a privately owned U.S. company with offices in both China and the U.S., specializes in energy assessments, design and implementation of energy efficiency plans, and the sourcing and financing of energy efficient technologies. Their mission is to build public-private partnerships in both the U.S. and China. Ecotech hopes that, as a result of this partnership, U.S. technology companies will gain easier access to the China market and product approval by CQC.

CQC is a Chinese government organization administered by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which is the highest public energy efficiency policy making body in China. CQC, the largest product quality certification company in China, also provides management certification (ISO series) and is a member of international governmental cooperative bodies.
