Celebrating a Season of Gratitude

Acting National Director Chris Garcia

By MBDA Acting National Director Chris Garcia

What if Thanksgiving were every day of the year? It’s not a very far-fetched idea when we trust in and employ the power of gratitude. In the words of writer William Arthur Ward, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”

This is especially true as we welcome in the holiday season and the many opportunities and treasured blessings that it holds. Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays of the year. It’s a time when we, as a Nation, can show gratitude for our families, faith, and freedom.

I’m grateful to share in this season as part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, MBDA family. Together we are contributing to America’s economic prosperity and helping the 8 million minority business enterprises thrive across our great Nation. For that, I am truly thankful. Each day entrepreneurs and business owners create millions of jobs and empower employees to provide for their families. MBDA is grateful for the part we play in making America great.

In the midst of our joyous celebrations with family, friends, and colleagues, let us also remember the many men and women in uniform serving in harm’s way this Thanksgiving, and those who are still recovering from the devastating hurricanes in Puerto Rico, Miami, Houston and the Caribbean. To those men and women, fellow Americans, I stand with you and I greatly admire your example of grace, perseverance, and courage in the face of insurmountable circumstances.

From the MBDA family to yours, I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.
