Owner Tracy K. Poepoe is determined to make Trace Industries, Inc. a major construction-related service provider for the Federal Government.  He came to the MBDA Business Center in Honolulu for general business advice and assistance in developing marketing and procurement strategies.

The Honolulu MBDA assisted Trace Industries in getting certified as an Asian Pacific Islander, SBA 8 (a) company. As a result, Trace Industries was able to secure one of three Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) demolition contracts, with an estimated total value of $20 million. Subsequently, the company was awarded two contracts of $482,000 and $406,000 with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Hawaii. The contracts created and retained nine jobs.

The Honolulu MBDA continues to help Trace identify Mentor-Protégé or other teaming relationships in order to compete for larger and more complex construction projects.
