Please join the Minority Business Development Agency and the Columbia MBDA Business Center in congratulating Dr. Louis B. Lynn for being awarded the Order of the Palmetto. Dr. Lynn, who is a 30-year client of the Center, was given this prestigious award on Thursday, August 2nd by Gov. Henry McMaster. The Order of the Palmetto is the highest award a South Carolina civilian can receive for exceptional lifetime service and accomplishments of statewide or national significance.
Dr. Lynn, a Darlington County native, is a senior member on the Clemson Board of Trustees where he has served since 1988. While presenting the award, McMaster stated that he chose to award Lynn based on his contributions not only to education but to the South Carolina community as a whole.
The operator of the Center, Diane Sumter stated “Dr. Lynn truly deserves this honor; he displays the utmost dedication in every aspect of his life. We are honored to serve him, as he continues to serve the state of South Carolina.”
2012 was full of success for Dr. Lynn as he received the Ronald H. Brown Standards Leadership Award. The company he founded in 1985, ENVIRO AgScience, was also named Small Business of the Year by the US Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency.
In 2017, Dr. Lynn was a recipient of the Legacy Award for being a successful third-generation business owner. The construction and horticulture business has been successfully transitioned to his daughters, Dr. Krystal Conner and Adrienne Lynn Sienkowski.
Dr. Lynn believes that in the business community, “you need to pay your civic rent. Board service has allowed me to contribute to the greater good of my community.”
Faith has always played a role in Dr. Lynn’s life, as he is a faithful member of First Nazareth Baptist Church and a staunch supporter of the Faith in the Workplace Ministry. This was demonstrated when instead of delivering an acceptance speech, Dr. Lynn asked his friend, Bishop Ted Myers to deliver a prayer instead.
Congratulations again to Dr. Louis B. Lynn!
