About This Center
The Houston MBDA Business Center is operated by Houston Community College. The program is funded, in part, by the U.S. Department of Commerce through the Minority Business Development Agency and has been hosted at Houston Community College since September 2013. MBDA Business Centers are staffed by business specialists who help minority businesses access procurement opportunities, markets and capital.
To foster the growth and global competitiveness of U.S. businesses that are minority-owned by facilitating transactions through referrals; business consulting; contract proposal preparation; loan packaging and matching Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) to contract opportunities and capital sources.
Christopher Bilton, Program Director, was formerly the Executive Director of the Greater Southeast Management District. Previously, he was the Program Director of the Houston Minority Business Enterprise Center. Prior to that, he served as Interim President and CEO of the Center for Houston’s Future. A native of Houston, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas State University and his Master of Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University.

Global Business Development
Services include identification of export markets, facilitation of global transactions, international trade missions and market analysis, and overseas market promotion assistance.
Access to Capital
Services include identification of domestic and global financing opportunities, equity financing, brokerage of financial transactions, identification and closure of merger and acquisition transactions.
Access to Contracts
Services include identification of procurement opportunities, solicitation analysis, bid and proposal preparation, negotiation and closing, research contract award histories.
Access to Markets
Services include government procurement assistance, private sector contract identification and specialized certification assistance including 8(a), and assistance with market research.
Strategic Business Consulting
Services include sales consulting and forecasting, market feasibility studies, operations management and quality control, bid preparation and bonding (construction), and manufacturing facility leasing.
