Working on an Invention that will Serve the Public Good? Need Funding?

Small Business Funding

In case you haven’t heard, the Federal Government funds innovation projects like yours. Small Business Innovation Research grants offer up to $225K for Phase I (developing your idea); and $1.2 million for Phase II (production). Many government agencies offer SBIR funding (Defense, NIH, Energy, NASA, etc.)  but in most cases, they have specific needs and award their funding for innovators to solve their problems or technology needs.

But, the National Science Foundation’s grant funding opportunities are more general. Each year, the NSF funds roughly 400 companies across nearly all technology and market sectors. The only requirement is that your invention promotes the social good.

Right now, there are 336 grantees in Phase I and you can see what they’re working on here.
